About me
Lisa Meza is a well respected and professional pattern designer in Los Angeles, California. In 1989, Lisa started working for Mica, a contemporary dress manufacturer in the Los Angeles garment district. For over a decade, she developed the slip dress trend of the 90’s, specializing in silk and rayon bias slip dresses. Vintage inspired silhouettes in conversational prints taught her how fabric reacts and moves on the body. In early 2000, she was employed as a senior pattern designer for BEBE in their design studios, heading the pattern design room for all soft dressing divisions. This included running fittings for both pattern makers and tech designers. She was a major driving force in fit continuity.
During this period, she transitioned from hand pattern making to master the art of computerized pattern making systems. Today, she continues to use state of the art digitizers and computerized pattern making systems to help her client’s needs.
Lisa’s creativity came at an early age, where her love for art and structure came from a creative family. Her father was an architect with a passion for art and dance. He was a master with pen and ink sketches. Her mother was a natural teacher with a creative streak to develop a fun way for her kids and students to excel at their own pace and find and pursue individual talents.
At that early age, Lisa knew that designing and creating was her calling and passion. Excelling in art while in high school led her to FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) for further education. She graduated in 1983 with a degree in Fashion Design. An education at the FIDM set the base in learning fashion design, draping, pattern making, and garment construction, which led to a long and rewarding career in fashion. She was the winner of the best costume award for the musical “The Beggar’s Opera”!
